There are two main terms used: Diaper Lover (DL) and Adult Baby (AB).

DL's wear nappies for the fun aspect, or as part of BDSM (bondage), so for some it is a form of humiliation.

AB's wear nappies as they have to desire to regress to early childhood. This regression is also known as infantilism. Infantilism is the desire to be child-like, and is not related to pedophilia. For some, regressing to childhood, is a form of escapism, a way to escape from the worries of their current life, and to be taken to a time, where everything was planned and organised by a "daddy" figure.

Some AB's mix regression and humiliation. They may wet themselves or be naughty and therefore, as they have acted like a child, they have to be treated like a child.

Teen Babies (TB) are 16 to 19 year olds nappy wearers and so are pre-adult babies.
